Ingredients:

  • 4 Celery Stalks
  • 1 Small Apple
  • 1/2 Cup Spinach
  • 2 Tbsp Lemon Juice
  • 1/2 Tsp Ginger
  • 1/4 cup Water
  • 2 Tbsp Fresh Cilantro
  • 1 Scoop Collagen (Optional)

Directions:

  1. Add all ingredients into blender
  2. Blend on high until well mixed
  3. Pour juice mixture into strainer bag, gently squeezing juice into glass
  4. Enjoy!
  5. Can also use a juicer

This healthy green juice recipe is delicious and full of antioxidants provided by fruits and vegetables. It’s a great way to start your morning with healthy choices. I also would recommend pairing it with a balanced breakfast. I snuck in some collagen protein too! This is how to make green juice taste good and still be full of nutrients!

With all the hype about celery juice, I decided to make my own version. As a Registered Dietitian, it’s important to look at the nutrition facts about celery juice benefits. I also had to use a blender instead of a juicer. Using the strainer bag made it easy.

Is celery juice in the morning healthy?

Here’s a dietitian’s review on celery juice

Pros

  • Hydrating first thing in the morning.

Drinking water early is important, it replenishes your body after sleeping and helps promote digestion and metabolism.

  • Getting a serving of veggies in.

I always encourage vegetables at every meal! It’s a great way to sneak in veggies.

  • Starting your day off making a healthy choice.

If it makes you feel like you’re starting the day off healthy, I say go for it! Set yourself up for good eating habits and healthy lifestyle.

Some Things To Consider Before Going On A Celery Juice Detox

1.) We do not have enough research to support any medical claims behind celery juice benefits, most studies have been done in rodents and with the whole vegetable, leaves or seeds vs. juice.

2.) This fad was created by a “medical medium” who gets his information from spirits.

3.) You are eliminating the fiber from celery nutrition, which has known health benefits and creates waste.

Green Juice Nutrition Info:

Celery: great source of vitamin K, vitamin A, potassium, folate, flavonoids, and fiber. It’s a low calorie and carb vegetable.

Apple: decent source of vitamin C and potassium. Apples are rich in antioxidants and fiber making it a healthy fruit option.

Spinach: is truly a superfood vegetable. It contains high amounts of carotenoids, vitamin C, vitamin K, folic acid, iron and calcium. Spinach has a ton of great research behind it’s health benefits including reducing the risk of cancer and diabetes.

Lemon: rich in vitamin C, and contain potassium and vitamin B6. They also contain other compounds providing health benefits including citric acid.

Ginger: is high in gingerol, a substance with powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Ginger flavor in juice is amazing however is very strong, so go easy!
